2019 Multistate Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections Linked to Romaine Lettuce
In 2019 public health officials in eight states and the CDC investigated an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections associated with romaine lettuce. Twenty-one outbreak associated cases were identified. Seven people were hospitalized. No one died. Dates of illness onset ranged from November 6 or December 3, 2019. Some of the cases became ill after eating romaine at Panera Bread.
The outbreak was assigned CDC Cluster ID Code 1912NCEXH-1.
