2019 Outbreak of Salmonella Braenderup Infections Associated with Green Mill Restaurant, Minnesota

In April 2019 public health officials in Minnesota investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Braenderup infections associated with eating food from the Green Mill in Bloomington, Minnesota. Seven cases were identified including 5 laboratory confirmed cases. Meal dates ranged from March 22 to April 10. Dates of illness onset ranged from March 29 to April 16. No one was hospitalized and no one died. Tomato and romaine lettuce consumption were statistically associated with illness. Two banquet servers tested positive for the outbreak strain of Salmonella Braenderup. Investigators concluded that food workers infected with Salmonella may have been the source of contamination but that other sources of contamination could not be ruled out.
