In August 2019 Nassau County Department of Health investigators reported a cluster of cases of Salmonella associated with people who consumed food or drink at the Brixx and Barley restaurant located at 152 West Park Avenue in Long Beach, New York. A total of 51 outbreak associated cases were identified. Implicated meal dates ranged from June 6, 2019 to August 20, 2019. Most of the cases resided in New York but residents of other states (Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey and Tennessee) also became ill after eating at the restaurant in Long Beach. A sample of sliced tomatoes was positive for the outbreak strain. The restaurant was closed while the investigation was underway. The restaurant reopened on August 21, 2019.
