2020 Outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis Infections Associated with a Restaurant, Minnesota
In June 2020, Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) staff investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections associated with a restaurant in Centerville, Minnesota. Two cases were identified, initially through routine surveillance. It was determined that both cases had eaten at the same restaurant. One person ate at the restaurant on May 22 and experienced symptom onset on May 29. The meal date of the second case was undetermined but they experienced symptom onset on June 4. Neither case was hospitalized and no one died.
Anoka County Public Health and Environmental Services (ACPHES) staff visited the restaurant on June 30. There were no reports of recent employee illness. No potential environmental health hazards during the onsite assessment were noted.
