2021 Outbreak of STEC Infections Linked to Georgia National Fair, Georgia
In October 2021 the North Central Health Department and the Georgia Department of Public Health investigated an outbreak of Shiga Toxin E. coli (STEC) infections among attendees at the Georgia National Fair. Both E. coli O157:H7 and E. coli O145 were isolated. A total of 205 cases were identified. Seven people were hospitalized. No one died. Exposure to cattle or calves were listed as the vehicle of transmission.
