2022 Outbreak of Legionnaires' Disease at a Manufacturing Facility, South Carolina
In 2022, state and federal health officials investigated an outbreak of legionellosis among employees of a manufacturing facility. Investigators found two unique sources of Legionella pneumophila, water jet cutters and a floor scrubber. A total of 34 cases of legionellosis was identified. Fifteen people were hospitalized. Two people died. Illnesses took place between August and November, 2022.
