2022 Outbreak of Norovirus-like Illnesses at IHOP, Seattle, Washington
In May 2022, Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) investigated an outbreak of norovirus-like illness among 5 members of 1 meal party at IHOP #1755 in Seattle. The meal date was April 28, 2022. No one was hospitalized and no one died. No ill employees were identified.
PHSKC visited the restaurant on May 4, 2022. Investigators identified improper handwashing, a risk factor known to contribute to the spread of norovirus. The restaurant closed on May 4th for a thorough cleaning and disinfection. It reopened on May 5th.
