2022 Outbreak of Sapovirus Illnesses Linked to Raw Oysters, Nevada
In 2022 the Southern Nevada Health District (SNLV) notified the FDA of two clusters of sapovirus illnesses from individuals who consumed raw oysters at a restaurant in Las Vegas. Meal dates occurred on October 28, 2022, and November 5, 2022. As of November 23, 2022, SNLV reported one confirmed and nine suspected cases of sapovirus illnesses.
On November 23, 2022, the FDA issued an advisory to restaurants and retailers to not serve or sell and consumers not to eat certain potentially contaminated raw oysters from Dai One Foods Co., Ltd, Republic of Korea.
