2023 Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections at a Long-term Care Facility, Illinois

In November 2023, Illinois public health officials investigated a foodborne illness outbreak of Shiga toxin E. coli (STEC) O157:H7 infections associated with a long-term care/nursing home/assisted living facility. Five people were ill. All five were hospitalized. No one died.

The vehicle of transmission was not reported.
