2023 Outbreak of Illnesses Associated with Raw Oysters, Maryland
In June 2023, Maryland public health officials investigated an outbreak of illnesses associated with oyster shooters. Two people were ill. One person was hospitalized. No one died.
Suspected etiologies reported included Vibrio cholerae, Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), and Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC). The setting was reported as unknown.
