2023 Outbreak of Salmonella Infections Associated with Carniceria Guanajuato, Illinois
In September 2023, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) investigated an outbreak of Salmonella infections among people who ate prepared food from a taqueria in Carniceria Guanajuato located at 3140 N California in Chicago. As of September 15, 20 individuals with the outbreak strain of Salmonella had been identified. Of these, 10 had been hospitalized.
Carniceria Guanajuato voluntarily closed the taqueria on September 8, 2023.
