In May 2023, public health officials in Massachusetts investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections among patrons of Los Amigos Taqueria restaurant located in Brighton. A total of 127 cases were identified. Twelve people were hospitalized. No one died.

Three clusters of illnesses occurred in May, June and July. The permit to operate was suspended in May and again in June.

Nine employees were tested. Two were positive for Salmonella Enteritidis including a manager who was asymptomatic. All food tested was negative for Salmonella.
