2023 Outbreak of Suspected Bacterial Toxin Illnesses Associated with a Restaurant, Washington
In May 2023, public health officials at Tacoma Pierce County Health Department investigated an outbreak of illnesses suspected to be caused by a bacterial toxin. Six people were ill. No one was hospitalized and no one died.
The implicated vehicle of transmission was reported as "blackened chicken mac and cheese. Health officials suspected inadequate cold holding as the reason for the outbreak.
