Fresno County Department of Public Health and California Department of Public Health officials investigated a multi-person outbreak of botulism related to food consumed at a family event on June 21st in Caruthers and June 22nd in Clovis, California. As many as 10 people were seen at local hospitals. Two people were hospitalized. No one died.

The outbreak was attributed to home-canned cactus pads or nopales prepared by a family member.
