On October 21, 2024, more than 40 people working at NAFCO, a wholesale seafood processor in Jessup, Maryland, were hospitalized after eating home prepared pancit, a Filipino noodle dish, brought to work by an employee and shared with others. Ill people started becoming ill three hours after eating. The Howard County Health Department determined there was no risk of further illnesses connected to the incident.
