In September 2024, Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) investigated an outbreak of gastrointestinal illnesses among patrons of Fuji Sushi in Seattle. Five people who ate together at the restaurant on September 16, 2024, became ill with vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and chills. No one was hospitalized and no one died.

PHSKC visited the restaurant on September 25, 2024. They identified numerous unsafe food practices including improper hand washing, no glove use with ready-to-eat foods, and cross contamination. The restaurant was closed until problems were fixed.

Investigators did not identify any sick restaurant employees.
