2026 Outbreak of Salmonellosis Associated with a Funeral, New York
In July 2026, public health officials in Suffolk County and New York investigated an outbreak of Salmonella infections associated with a June 30 meal following a funeral.
A total of 58 patients were seen by Stony Brook Southampton Hospital doctors while exhibiting symptoms consistent with Salmonella infection since the beginning of July, according to hospital officials.
"The majority of the patients were evaluated, treated and discharged. As required, SBSH promptly notified the New York State Department of Health to support its public health investigation," officials said in a statement.
