2026 Outbreak of Salmonellosis Associated with Ramona Family Naturals Market, California
In June 2026, San Diego County public health officials investigated an outbreak of Salmonella infections associated with Ramona Family Natural Market located in Ramona, California. As of July 29, 2026, thirteen confirmed or probable cases were reported. Four people were hospitalized. No one died.
Investigators believe the outbreak is connected to mayonnaise made with raw, unpasteurized eggs used in deli items including chicken salads ant the Ramona Red Sauce.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) was leading the investigation into the local egg supplier.
This strain is not related to a separate multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to recalled shell eggs from Midwest Poultry.
