In August 2026, Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) officials investigated an outbreak of scombroid poisoning (also called histamine fish poisoning) associated with I Love Sushi on Lake Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington. Three people reported becoming sick after eating tuna and/or albacore from the restaurant on July 13, 2026. They reported one or more symptoms including flushing, rapid heart rate, headache, palpitations, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, abdominal cramps, itching and dry mouth. No one was hospitalized and no one died.

On July 31, 2026, PHSKC environmental specialists visited the restaurant and found that they were not keeping food, including fish, properly refrigerated. This could have contributed to the three people becoming sick. A return visit to the restaurant on August 12, 2026 confirmed that all food safety problems had been corrected.
