An outbreak of Norovirus among visitors to a state park in Alabama was first noticed through Facebook conversations. Over 35 families of home-schooled children from around the state had an-end-of-the-school-year party at the park on May 27. The park was a popular destination and included a swimming and picnic area, a petting/exhibit area, and a snack bar. Activities shared by the group were swimming and a potluck lunch. An epidemiologic investigation suggested that swimming was the most significant risk factor for illness. Eating the potluck was not associated with illness. Secondary attack rates among the group was 51%. Norovirus testing on water samples was not performed.
