2002 Outbreak of Ciguatera Poisoning Linked to Consumption of Amberjack, Florida
A family in Miami-Dade County became ill with symptoms suggestive of ciguatera poisoning after eating fish purchased at a local marina. Two fillets were Amberjack fish and the other was barracuda. All family members ate the amberjack. The diagnosis of ciguatera poisoning was based on clinical symptoms. The family members had no evidence of other causes for their symptoms.
