2005 Outbreak of Norovirus at a Restaurant, Minnesota
Three people who had met for lunch became ill afterwards. All three had eaten a salad at the restaurant. Stool samples contained Norovirus, and, based on these two facts, the health department identified the salad as the source of the illness. Norovirus is a common contaminant of ready-to-eat foods, such as salads. An inspection of the restaurant did not find any ill food workers or specific means of contamination.
