2004 Outbreak of Salmonella Javiana Infections Linked to Roma Tomatoes, Canada
Patrons of a restaurant in Ontario, Canada, developed Salmonella Javiana in early July. Although a case-control study was not conducted, roma tomatoes were the suspected vehicle because roma tomatoes were the only common food exposure among the ill. This outbreak occurred concurrently with two large, US based, Salmonella outbreaks implicating roma tomatoes.
