2012 Outbreak of Norovirus at a Conference, Canada
Dozens of people were isolated in their hotel rooms at the Harbour Towers Hotel and Suites during a suspected outbreak of norovirus that developed during a student journalism conference in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The conference began on January 11. Delegates had a buffet dinner at the hotel and then boarded buses for an event at the University of Victoria. People started vomiting on the buses. By January 20, it was known that at least 147 conference delegates and 18 hotel staff had become ill due to the outbreak.
