2009 Outbreak of E coli O157:H7 at a Cook County Kindercare, Illinois
Twenty one children and a teacher developed E. coli O157:H7 due to poor handwashing and sanitation practices at the facility. E. coli can be spread from person-to-person when infected persons do not adequately wash their hands or clean diaper changing areas after having a bowel movement.
