A family party in Minnesota resulted in an outbreak of Norovirus. The party, in May, served a variety of summer barbecue style foods, including: hamburger, sausage, taco salad, baked beans, chips, condiments, and cake. Food preparation was done at the private home where the party was held. An investigation by the health department found meat, bun and ketchup consumption associated with illness, but determined the food was likely contaminated during the preparation process. One of the children in attendance was ill with diarrhea and vomiting three days earlier, as was likely still shedding virus. The adults who prepared the meal all reported contact with the child before preparing food.
