2006 Outbreak of Shigellosis Linked to Filiberto's Restaurant, California
Ten people developed symptoms of Shigella in late August. The San Diego and California health departments investigated and determined that the cluster of illnesses were linked to eating at Filiberto's Restaurant in San Diego. Serious food-handling and sanitation errors contributed to the outbreak. By the end of the investigation, 73 illnesses were attributed to the restaurant outbreak.
