An outbreak of Salmonella Heidelberg infections occurred among patrons of a Florida restaurant. Macaroni and cheese was the implicated vehicle. The same strain of Salmonella Heidelberg was isolated from the macaroni and cheese and case patients' stool samples. The environmental investigation revealed poor handwashing facilities and a possibility that the macaroni and cheese could have become cross-contaminated by contact with raw chicken.
