2008 Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 at a Forest Ranch Fire Department Fundraising Event, California
At least 27 people became ill due to E. coli O157:H7 after attending a fund raiser for the Forest Ranch Fire Department (Butte County, California). E. coli O157:H7 bacteria was found on frozen, leftover meat. It matched the E. coli O157:H7 bacteria that was found in the stool samples of several of the ill people. The food preparation practices appeared to be adequate. The CDC assigned Cluster ID 0810CAEXH-1c to the outbreak investigation.
