Eight children were admitted to the hospital after eating hamburgers bought from the discount chain, Lidl, and developing infections caused by E. coli O157:H7. The outbreak strain was isolated from a consumer hamburger sample collected from an ill child's home. The contaminated hamburger was one of three production dates recalled by the manufacturer, La Societe SEB.
