A group of persons who consumed pork developed trichinosis. The sow had been purchased from a local farm. All case-patients denied eating raw, or undercooked pork. Three case-patients had been involved in the slaughter of the pig. Pork samples were examined and trichinae were identified. The farmer where the pig had been purchased had fed the pigs garbage and the environment was conducive to rodents. The remaining pigs at the farm had serologic evidence of trichinosis.
