A party was held for 25 persons on March 30. Several days later, several people developed giardiasis. Consumption of fruit salad that had been prepared in the home of a woman who developed giardiasis nine days after the party. Her child had eaten the fruit salad, had remained well, but giardia was detected in this child's stool. Two days before the party, the child had been given a pet rabbit which had been present in the kitchen while the salad was made. Giardia was also present in the rabbit's stool.
