2005 Outbreak of Bacillus cereus Infections Linked to Taco Meat, Michigan
A church fundraiser in mid-August was indicated as the source of an outbreak of gastroenteritis. An investigation found the source of the infection was taco meat contaminated with biotoxins from Bacillus cereus. An environmental investigation concluded the meat was improperly cooled, and this led to the growth of Bacillus cereus, a bacteria that produces a toxin.
