On December 27, the Michigan Department of Agriculture announced the recall of All Natural Ackawi and Chive Cheeses produced by the Green Cedar Dairy - Harb, Inc., of Dearborn, Michigan. The recalled product is sold in approximately 12-14 oz. squares vacuum sealed in clear plastic packages with a sell by date of up to July 1, 2012. The investigation into the cheese occurred as a result of two recent cases of human listeriosis in people who had eaten Green Cedar Dairy cheese. The Michigan Department of Agriculture reportedly found Listeria in samples of the All Natural Chives Cheese. Green Cedar Dairy products were distributed to bakeries and retail stores in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
