An outbreak of a toxigenic strain of E. coli occurred at a privately run, prison facility, in Boise, Idaho. Tests from at least two inmates identified a toxin. In August, inspections found coliform bacteria in the facility's water supply, forcing the facility to boil drinking water. It was unknown, as of December 8, whether the water was implicated in this illness outbreak.
