1988 Multistate Outbreak of Vibrio cholera Linked to Oysters Processed in Colorado
A man who ate raw oysters that had been processed by a new oyster-processing plant in Rifle, Colorado, developed cholera. The oysters originated from the coast of Louisiana. After this illness was investigated, at least five additional oyster-related, cholera cases, in five other states, were detected between August and October, 1988.
