2013 Outbreak of Campylobacter Infections Linked to Kasilof Dairy Produced Raw Milk, Alaska
In May 2013 the Alaska Department of Health reported that two patients had been diagnosed with Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni). The two unrelated patients shared an indistinguishable PFGE pattern. Both patients indicated that their diarrheal illness started within 10 days after consuming raw milk from Kasilof Dairy, the same producer of raw milk that was implicated in an C. jejuni outbreak in February 2013. In addition to the 2 laboratory confirmed cases, three other persons were identified as having developed acute diarrheal illness within 10 days of consuming Kasilof Dairy raw milk.
