2009 Outbreak of Brucellosis Linked to Unpasteurized Dairy Products, Mexico
At least 264 cases of brucellosis were identified in Guanajuato state, Mexico, by August 18. The local health officer advised the local population to avoid unpasteurized dairy products, mainly those derived from goats' milk. Cases were reported from the cities of Leon, Guanajuato, and Romita. Brucellosis had been a consistent foodborne illness problem in this part of Mexico.
