2001 Outbreak of Multiple Pathogens at a Farm Day Camp, Minnesota
For a second year, a multiple pathogen outbreak occurred at the same university sponsored, farm day camp; a similar outbreak occurred the year before. The camp was held on campus and was for young children. The attraction of the camp was that children cared for the calves. Although the camp had made efforts to implement CDC recommendations to reduce the risk of disease transmission from animals to children, the outbreak occurred likely due to poor handwashing by the children.
