An outbreak of multiple serotypes of Salmonella occurred among persons who attended a wedding reception held in Connecticut. Among the six case-patients who obtained laboratory testing, two stool specimens yielded S. Schwarzengrund, two yielded S. Typhimurium (var. 5-), and one yielded both Salmonella Schwarzengrund and Typhimurium (var. 5-). Genetically identical strains of Salmonella Schwarzengrund and Typhimurium were isolated from an asymptomatic food worker. Food workers had bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods. Persons who ate potato salad were at increased risk for illness. Environmental samples of contact surfaces and spices tested negative for Salmonella.
