A confirmed multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 occurred in the United States among people who had eaten ground beef in private homes. Forty four outbreak associated cases were identified. Twenty one patients were hospitalized. No one died. It was not clear whether this outbreak was related to a concurrent outbreak in Minnesota involving Nebraska Beef/Interstate Meat/Tabaka's Supervalu Ground Beef.
