2008 Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Linked to Northwest Fruit and Produce Inc. Bagged Lettuce, Washington
Bagged lettuce was implicated in an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 in Washington state. Six cases were in Pierce county. These persons had eaten the lettuce in salads at Pacific Lutheran University and at the LaQuinta banquet facility. There were four cases in Thurston County. These persons had eaten salads at Capital High School and Thurgood Marshall High School. E. coli O157:H7 isolates from this cluster matched the most common E. coli PFGE pattern in the PulseNet database.
