An outbreak of viral gastroenteritis occurred among employees of a manufacturing company. Illness was found to be associated with eating sandwiches that had been prepared by six food handlers. One of the food handlers reported recent gastronenteritis that had subsided four days prior to when the sandwiches were made. An identical strain of norovirus was isolated from company employees and from food handlers.
