A confirmed outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 was linked to eating lamb. Raw lamb was purchased from a Middle Eastern style meat market in Toledo, Ohio, and then used to make a dish called kibbe. Kibbe are usually meat ball shaped croquettes. Usually the meat is cooked, however lamb kibbe are sometimes consumed as raw lamb. The preparation of this kibbe was not described.
