On October 12, Osamu Corporation of Gardena, California, recalled 1,800 cases, lot# 7013, of frozen ground tuna because the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) found decomposition in several samples of the product and also found elevated histamine levels in samples taken from one retail location. The frozen ground tuna had been shipped to three distributors between 08/18/11 to 09/08/11. The three distributors were: AFC Corporation; Red Shell Foods; and Pacific Fresh Fish Company. AFC Corporation and Red Shell Foods have sushi franchises located in grocery stores. Pacific Fresh Fish Company was a cash and carry establishment. Three illnesses were linked to this outbreak; all had eaten sushi purchased at a single location.
