1997 Outbreak of Salmonellosis Linked to Ham Served at a Church Dinner, Maryland
An outbreak of Salmonella occurred among attendees of a dinner served at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Chaptico, Maryland. The entrees included: stuffed ham, turkey, and fried oysters. The stuffed ham was thought to be the most likely vehicle. One woman who did not attend the event died due to a Salmonella infection after eating food brought to her home from the event.
