2012 Outbreak of Hepatitis A Linked to Pomeberry Blend Frozen Berries, Canada
On April 5, 2012, the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control warned the public not to consume Pomeberry Blend frozen berries, manufactured by Western Family, because they may be linked to an outbreak of hepatitis A. Eight cases of hepatitis A occurred in British Columbia. Five out of the eight cases had consumed the Pomeberry product. The product was distributed through Save-On-Foods and Overwaitea. The link to the product had not been confirmed. Vaccination was not recommended for persons who had consumed the product.
