State and local health departments received complaints of illness following dining at a Hennepin County, Minnesota, restaurant on February 2 or 3. The county health department initiated an investigation beginning with gathering a list of patrons of the restaurant. Epidemiologists conducted interviews to determine the extent of the outbreak and gather food histories. Stool samples indicated the pathogen was Norovirus. Sanitarians inspected the restaurant and found multiple food handling violations as well as ill food workers. Due to these violations the restaurant was fined. Analysis of the food histories pointed to sandwiches as the likely source of infection.
