1986 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonellosis Linked to Frozen Pasta
Rotanelli, a frozen-food manufacturer recalled its lasagna and stuffed-shell products after outbreaks of food poisoning occurred in New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts. Two serotypes were detected in ill patients, Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Heidelberg. The products were distributed to restaurants, caterers, institutions, and retail stores throughout the United States. The likely vehicle were the eggs used to make the pasta.
