At least four people became ill due to a rare type of Salmonella after drinking raw milk in northern Texas. One dairy, Lavon Farms (Plano, Texas) was investigated, as three of the four cases consumed milk produced by this dairy. Raw milk sold at the farm tested positive for the same strain of Salmonella recovered from the cases. The illnesses occurred just as Texas was considering whether to liberalize raw milk sales.
